Promoting Kindness
This week, in the Principal’s Assembly, it was our Junior School Student Leaders, Lily and Sabine, who shared their inspiration for living life well. Lily’s (Year 6) speech is reproduced below.
What I love about ³ûÖÊÓƵ is that even during the hardest times of the School year, we always manage to stay closely connected within our community.
In these last few weeks of 2023, we Year 6 students have been working on our annual end-of-year exhibition, showcasing our International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme learning over the past few years; it’s a lot.
But I have found that even in the midst of a problem such as cutting through a picture, people will go out of their way to help (which might sometimes mean simply passing a glue stick). This is the ³ûÖÊÓƵ Value of Kindness being consistently shown throughout ordinary days; elevating others around us.
Kindness was also shown immensely throughout my experience in the Junior School Musical, Annie Jr. I found it such an amazing experience performing and rehearsing as the character of Annie. But what I enjoyed the most was that when my nerves were at their peak, Ms Lemon and my friends and classmates always managed to encourage and elevate me to persevere.
People that I was not very close to in the grade also made a special effort to congratulate me after the performance. I think that it’s quite a unique and reassuring feeling to be praised by your peers.
At ³ûÖÊÓƵ, the small acts of kindness and celebrating others are what elevate and shape us into selfless, kind, strong Wenonians.
